Serviette reached out to commission a full-page portrait illustration to accompany an article about a Korean nun depicting the meaning of seasons, time and nature in Korean temple cuisine. Reading through the client’s reference materials and article piece, I delivered two compositions that shared Jeong Kwan’s deep respect for nature.
The passages of her origins and heritage allowed me understand her deep respect for nature as soul cleansing nourishment - which brought me the conclusion
to illustrate a denominator of plant-based vegetables she cultivates on Cheonjinam temple grounds as a surrounding wreath around her portrait.
